What we did
In a bid to make healthcare accessible to more people in the community, Ethan School of Health Technology recently organized two medical outreach programs. The first outreach took place on January 24th, 2023, around the school environment, while the second outreach took place at NYSC bus stop, Igando, on January 27th, 2023. Both outreach programs were a huge success, impacting almost 200 lives.
How we did it
The medical team was comprised of qualified doctors, nurses, and medical students who worked together to ensure that every participant received the best medical attention. The team focused on checking the vital signs of people present, including blood pressure, weight, temperature, spo², height, BMI, and blood sugar test. After the vital signs were taken, each person was attended to by a doctor who offered a free consultation.
To ensure that the outreach was successful, each student was given a specific role to play, and their tutors provided supervision. This approach allowed the students to gain practical experience and apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life situations.
Why we did it
The main aim of the outreach program was to identify silent killer diseases, promptly treat those that need urgent attention, and refer those that require further medical attention. This approach will help to reduce morbidity and mortality rates, which is one of the reasons for the establishment of Ethan School of Health Technology.
The turnout was impressive, and the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive free medical attention, especially those who cannot afford to visit a hospital or clinic regularly.
The success of these outreach programs highlights the commitment of Ethan School of Health Technology to the well-being of the community. By organizing such programs, the school is playing a vital role in ensuring that healthcare is accessible to everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status.
